Fractions and the ◄► toggle
On the handheld, answers appear in exact form — 7/8 or 2√2 — until you press the toggle key. This simulator does the same for fractions: type 3/4+2/5 and it answers 23/20, then press ◄► to see 1.15. Exact radical answers such as 2√2 are not simulated yet; you get the decimal.
Degrees or radians
Press mode to switch between DEG and RAD; the current mode is shown at the top of the display. Geometry, physics and most school trigonometry use degrees, so sin(30) should give 0.5. If it gives −0.988 you are in radians.
Statistics on the TI-30XS
Press data and type your numbers into L1, pressing enter after each one. Then press 2nd + data for the stat menu and choose 1-VAR STATS to read n, the mean x̄, the sample standard deviation Sx and the population standard deviation σx. Put paired data in L1 and L2 and choose 2-VAR STATS for the regression line and correlation coefficient r.
Most coursework wants Sx (sample). Use σx only when your list is the whole population. The same distinction is explained step by step in our standard deviation guide.
Which calculator should you use?
The TI-30XS MultiView is a scientific calculator: it does not graph. If you need a graph, a table of values or statistics lists, use the TI-84 Plus CE simulator. For exam rules, always check your board’s current approved list — the TI-30XS is widely accepted where scientific calculators are allowed, including the GED.
